LOCKBOX MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Use of An Electronic Key for Secure Access
A small silicon chip, measuring slightly over half an inch in diameter, is mounted in a stainless steel “Can” identical to those used in “button batteries.” Each chip is programmed with a 64-bit code word. No two chips have the same code. The code cannot be altered. The code contained in the chip can be read electronically by touching the lid of the can to the RSS reader. The chip is powered externally from the system receptor and does not require batteries or another internal power source. This electronic key is extremely durable and only costs a couple of dollars each when purchased in significant quantities. Each technician would be issued their personal key which can be enabled/disabled immediately through the software.

Lockboxes, Sites, and Zones - The Network Hierarchy

The Lockbox Manager software application facilitates the assignment of Lockboxes to Sites, and Sites to Zones, for the purpose of managing potentially large numbers of Lockboxes within a given cable service distribution network.

Lockboxes are not assigned an address in the Lockbox Manager application, but must belong to a Site, which does have an address. Each Lockbox entry has a “Location Name” field which could in fact be a building number or other designator, and an MSO ID, which can be most anything the MSO elects to use it for.

Software Overview

The LMS software is extremely user friendly and can be mastered by anyone that is somewhat “Windows knowledgeable” in a short time.
